Johnson Rolls to 78-37 Victory Over Hornets

The Johnson State College women's basketball Team (11-12, 8-8 NAC) cruised to a 78-37 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over the visiting Lyndon State Hornets (4-18, 3-13 NAC). 

Senior Allyson Bruckner and freshman Amanda Bednarick led the Badgers with team high scores of 16 points each. Bruckner also pulled down 13 boards for the Badgers, snagged three steals and dished out three assists. Johnson placed three additional players in double digits, seeing Kasey DeGreenia post 12 points, Ashley Goddard contribute 11 points and Domonique Carter-Stanley net 10 points in the winning effort. Carter-Stanley also posted a game-high eight steals en route to the Badger win. 

The Hornets were led Allison Brown and Mikayla Hodge with 13 points each. 

The teams kept things close in the first quarter, only seeing the Badgers go ahead by five at the most and ending the opening period ahead by just one, 15-16. However, Johnson used the second quarter to pull ahead of the visitors. A Goddard jumper started a pivotal 0-14 run that put the Badgers up 17-33 with 1:35 to play in the half. The Hornets were able to get two baskets, but the Badgers ended the half up 35-18. 

Johnson continued to push ahead in the third and fourth quarters, leading by as many as 43 points in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter.  Johnson ended the game with a 78-37 advantage. 

Johnson will travel to Green Mountain on Thursday for a 5:30 PM tip-off while Lyndon will visit Castleton on Thursday as well.
