Johnson Cruises to 95-37 Point Victory Over GMC

Green Mountain celebrated its three seniors on Thursday evening before the game, but Johnson State College spoiled the evening with a 95-39 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over the Eagles at the Eagle Dome.

Senior Torie Cowell led the Eagles with a double-double, notching 10 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Keelin Banks scored five points and tallied a pair of boards and assists, while third senior Hayley Loisel recorded four points and four rebounds. The team also received six points from Sherelle Jackson and Mercedes Rideout.

Johnson had five players score in double digits led by Amanda Bednarick who posted a season-high 31 points while also registering five steals. Kasey DeGreenia posted 16 points and 12 rebounds while Ashley Goddard and Domonique Carter-Stanley each scored 15. Allyson Bruckner also registered a double-double along with DeGreenia with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Each team struggled from the field in the opening quarter with only 14 total points being scored. Johnson left the period with a slight 8-6 lead.

The Eagles' struggles followed them into the second quarter while Johnson started to find the range on its shots. The Badgers converted on 12-of-20 shots and built up a lead that would be insurmountable and provided them with a comfortable 38-11 lead at the break.

The Badgers continued to capitalize off Eagle turnovers and did most of their damage inside the paint in the final two quarters and received good production off the bench thanks primarily to Bednarick's efforts.

Green Mountain (1-22, 0-17 NAC) will close out the regular season on Saturday with a road game against Lyndon at 1 p.m. Johnson (12-12, 9-8 NAC) will also play its regular season finale on Saturday oat home with a game against Castleton at 1 p.m.
