2016-17 Johnson State Women's Basketball Schedule Released

JOHNSON, VT. – The Johnson State College Athletic Department today released the 2016-17 women's basketball schedule. The Badgers will play a complete 25 game schedule, including 18 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games and 11 home contests.

Greg Eckman, who enters his 6th season at the helm, will lead the Badgers as they host Nichols on November 15th in the first game of the season. Johnson will travel to Newton, Mass. that weekend for the Mustang Classic, hosted by Mount Ida College. The Badgers will play Elms on Friday, November 18th and Bay Path the following day.

The Badgers will tip-off NAC play on December 3rd when they travel to New England College. Johnson will host their first home NAC game the following week when in-state rival Castleton visits on December 8th. The Badgers head into semester break following a trip to Green Mountain on December 10th.

The Badgers will start the New Year at home, hosting Colby-Sawyer, to start a ten game month of January. The month will include trips to defending NAC champion Husson, Maine Maritime Academy, Thomas, and UMaine-Farmington, as well as home contests against New England College, Lyndon, UMaine-Farmington, and Thomas.

The first two weeks of February will see road contests against Colby-Sawyer and Lyndon and visits from Husson and Maine Maritime Academy. The Badgers will host Green Mountain in their final regular season home game on February 16th, and then close out the regular season on February 18th at Castleton.

The 2017 NAC Tournament will begin on Tuesday, February 21st with the third and fourth seeded teams hosting the sixth and fifth seeded teams respectively. The first and second seeds will receive a first-round bye. The semifinals and finals will be played in a final four format at the number one seed. Semifinal games will be held on February 24th, with the championship game being played on February 25th.

Johnson State finished the 2015-16 season with a 12-13 record overall a 9-9 record in the NAC. The Badgers just missed out on a playoff spot following a three-way tie breaker with UMaine-Farmington and Colby-Sawyer.
