JOHNSON, VT. - The Johnson State College women's basketball team defeated Thomas College 61-43 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gym.
The Badgers improve to 5-6 on the season and 3-3 in the NAC, while Thomas goes to 5-8, 2-4 NAC.
1st Quarter
The Badgers scored first and maintained the lead through the entirety of the quarter. Progressively extending the advantage to 14-7 after one.
2nd Quarter
The Terriers clawed back in the second cutting down the Johnson lead to three when a buzzer beating three-pointer made the score 25-22 going into the half. The Badgers spread the ball well in the low scoring half, with nine players recording points.
3rd Quarter
Johnson pulled ahead in the third, going on a 14-2 run to go up 40-28 late in the quarter, and took a 40-32 lead into the fourth. Kasey DeGreenia lead Johnson in the quarter with 10 points and six rebounds.
4th Quarter
Thomas pushed back early in the fourth, but the Badgers put them away late and took the 61-43 victory. Sarah Voorhis (Nashua, N.H.) led Johnson in the quarter with six points.
Johnson Leaders
DeGreenia was Johnson's leading scorer, picking up 14 points and nine rebounds. Voorhis chipped in 12 more while Domonique Carter-Stanley (Norwalk, Conn.) added 10.
Thomas Leaders
Molly Carroll led Thomas off the bench with 12 points and five rebounds. Jordan Turner scored eight, while Sammie Griffin hauled in a team high seven rebounds.
Stat Breakdown
Johnson shot 40.0% from the and held Thomas to 26.2%, while shooting 26.7% from three compared to Thomas' 4.8%. Thomas outrebounded the Badgers 42-33, while Johnson forced 21 turnovers and committed 12 of their own. The Badgers never trailed in the game.

Johnson will travel to Pine Manor on Tuesday for a 5:00 non-conference game.
