FARMINGTON, MAINE – The Johnson State College women's basketball team defeated UMaine-Farmington 72-46 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon.
The Badgers improve to 9-9 overall and 6-6 in the NAC, while the Beavers drop to 3-13 on the season and 3-9 in the conference.
1st Quarter
UMaine-Farmington jumped out to an early lead, holding a 13-4 lead halfway through the first. Johnson came back on a 13-2 run to take a 17-15 lead after one. Sarah Voorhis (Nashua, N.H.) led the Badgers with five points in the opening frame.
2nd Quarter
Johnson extended their lead in the second, going on an 11-1 run to start the quarter, and taking a 32-23 lead into halftime. Voorhis once again paced Johnson with six points in the period.
3rd Quarter
The Badgers furthered their lead in the third period, outscoring the Beavers 21-12 in the quarter to take a 53-35 lead into the fourth. Domonique Carter-Stanley (Norwalk, Conn.) was Johnson's leading scorer in the third with six points.
4th Quarter
Johnson put the Beavers away in the fourth outscoring UMaine-Farmington 19-11 to take the 72-46 victory.
Johnson Leaders
Voorhis and Kaitlyn Brouard (Milton, Vt.) each picked up 14 points to lead Johnson. Carter-Stanley and Kasey DeGreenia (Concord, Vt.) added 12 more each for the Badgers.
UMaine-Farmington Leaders
Morgan Crocker led UMaine-Farmington with 11 points, while Kennadi Grover added 10 more.

Johnson outshot the Beavers 39.2% to 27.6% from the field, while also holding a 50.0% to 20.0% advantage from three-point range. Johnson held the 53-41 edge in rebounds, while Johnson committed 8 turnovers while forcing 17.
