JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College women's basketball team defeated Green Mountain College 61-53 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Thursday evening. Jocelyn Pellerin (Keene, N.H.) scored 29 points and set a program record with eight three-pointers made.
The Badgers improve to 1-7 (1-4 NAC) on the season while the Eagles drop to 1-7 (0-6 NAC).
1st QUARTER
Johnson jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but the Eagles pulled back and traded the lead with the Badgers through the remainder of the quarter. Johnson took a 13-12 edge into the second.
2nd QUARTER
The teams stayed even through the first four minutes of the second, with Green Mountain holding the 17-16 edge at the 6:19 mark. The Badgers went on a 15-6 run to close out the half with a 32-22 lead.
3rd QUARTER
Green Mountain came out strong to start the second half, going on a 15-4 run to take a 37-36 lead with four minutes left in the third and went on to take a 45-42 advantage into the fourth.
4th QUARTER
The Badgers took back the lead early in the fourth and outscored Green Mountain 19-8 in the final frame to pull away with the 61-53 victory.
