WBB: Hornets Push Past Badgers in NAC Game

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College women's basketball team fell to Lyndon State College 59-45 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gym.

The Badgers drop to 2-16 (1-11 NAC) on the season while the Hornets move to 11-7 (7-4 NAC).

1st QUARTER

The Badgers were strong defensively coming out, shutting the Hornets out over the first four minutes to take a 6-0 lead. Lyndon responded through the rest of the quarter, going on a 10-3 run to take a 10-9 lead, before Emily Marshall (Malone, N.Y.) hit a layup in the final seconds of the quarter to give Johnson an 11-10 lead after one.

2nd QUARTER

The Hornets took control early in the second, scoring eight unanswered points over the first three and a half minutes to go up 18- 11. Lyndon slowly added to their lead through the rest of the period building a 15 point advantage to go into the half up 34-19.

3rd QUARTER

Both teams struggled offensively through the first six minutes of the second half, with each scoring just two points over the stretch. The Badgers were able to chip away at the Lyndon lead in the final minutes of the quarter, pulling the deficit down to single digits as the Hornets took a 37-28 advantage into the final quarter. The three points allowed in the period by Johnson were the least amount of points allowed in a quarter by Johnson this season.

4th QUARTER

Lyndon scored the first six points of the fourth to push their lead back to 15 two minutes in. The Badgers were able to hang around but could not erase the deficit and fell 59-45.
