CSJ Tops Badgers 68-62 in Tip-Off Classic

JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball team dropped their second game of the NVU Tip-Off Classic on Saturday evening to College of Saint Joseph's College by a score of 68-62. Kaitlyn Brouard (Milton, Vt.) was awarded All-Tournament Team honors for the Badgers.

Brouard was impressive for the Badgers late in the second half. In the fourth quarter Brouard gave the Badgers a spark with two made three's behind the arc to bring the Badgers under a ten-point deficit. Brouard finished with 19 points. Late game fouls from the Badgers allowed the Fighting Saints to add to their lead and the Badgers struggled to get stops. The Badgers struggled to score for the most of second quarter and only shot 33.3% inside the arc for the game. Mariah Ramos (West Hartford, Vt.) contributed 13 points for the Badgers in just 23 minutes of playing time and Ellery Kiefer (Wayland, MA) contributed 8 points off the bench. The Fighting Saints were led by Daija Black and NaKeeya Goodman-Boddie. Black and Goodman-Boddie both contributed 23 points apiece for the Saints. Black earned All-Tournament Team honors as well.  With the loss the Badgers fall to 0-2 on the season and College of Saint Joseph's improve to 1-2.
