Lasers Defeat Badgers 68-44

 NEWTON, MA- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball team fell to Lasell College on Tuesday evening by a score of 68-44.

 The NVU-Johnson Badgers faced off against Lasell College on Tuesday evening. The Badgers are 0-2 going into the contest after losing to College of St.Joseph's and Vermont Technical College. The Badgers competed in the first quarter only trailing the Lasers by 6 points. The second quarter was where the Badgers faced adversity, getting outscored by 25-8. In the second half the Badgers scored a total of 24 points while holding Lasell to 25 points for the half. Lasell forced 33 turnovers and shot a total of 71 shots while the Badgers only attempted 47 shots. 

 Lindsey LaPerle (Bethel, Vt.) was the top performer for the Badgers. LaPerle scored a team high 16 points on 5-9 shooting frpom the field. She contributed four steals as well. Freshman Alexandra Barry (Hopewell Jct, NY) added 9 points shooting 4-5 from the field while also collecting 7 rebounds. Barry senior Kaitlyn Brouard (Milton, Vt.) and sophomore Emily Marshall (Malone, N.Y.) shared team-high honors with seven rebounds apiece. The Lasers Amanda Ortiz scored 22 points on 10-21 shooting. The rest of the Lasers contributed single digit scoring.  With the loss the Badgers fall to 0-3 on the season while Lasell earns their first win of the season and improves to 1-2 overall.
