WBB: Johnson Downed by Husson

Johnson, VT — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball team fell 86-43 in a North Atlantic Conference matchup versus Husson University at Carter Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. Freshmen Amorette Rodriquez (Downey, CA) and Melissa Ann Clark (Philadelphia, PA) led all Badgers in scoring with eight points each. Husson's Kenzie Worcester (24), Emma Alley (13), and Barrett Campbell (11) all reached double-figures for the Eagles. Sophomore forward Devin Libby (Burlington, VT) led all players in rebounding with eight boards.

The Badgers (1-6, 0-2 NAC) came out in the first quarter ready to match Husson basket for basket, and they capitalized on great opportunities, capturing their first lead of the game with 4:38 remaining in the first quarter. The Eagles broke a 12-12 tie as they went on an 8-0 run to end the first quarter, emerging with a 20-12 lead entering the second stanza.

With the Badgers putting up a strong fight, the Eagles switched up their defense, causing trouble for Johnson as they searched for an offensive flow. The Eagles continued to make the Badgers uncomfortable on offense and a trio of three-pointers by Husson's Kenzie Worcester led to a 20-point lead for the Eagles going into the second half.

Despite shooting well from behind the arc, the Badgers were unable to fast break or consistently find the shots they needed in order to pull out a victory over the Eagles. Husson emerged victorious, taking the game 83-43 to move to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in NAC play.
