Badgers Edged By Hornets in Presidents Cup Matchup

JOHNSON, Vt.— The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball team fell to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon 71-61 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gymnasium. TheBadgers move to 2-15 overall and 0-7 in NAC play in the loss, while the Hornets improve to 9-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

 Johnson was led by senior Mariah Ramos (Lebanon, NH) with 17 points and four rebounds. Freshman Alexandra Barry (Hopewell Jct., NY) chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds. The Hornets were led by Alissa Mitchell with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Lyndon also received 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists from Lea Crompton. 

 The Hornets took a commanding lead from the jump. In the first quarter the Hornets scored 20 points while holding the Badgers to 10 points. The Badgers quickly bounced back in the second stint by winning the quarter by a score of 23-17. The Badgers headed into halftime down 37-33.

 Entering the third quarter both teams were neck and neck but Hornets kept the Badgers at bay throughout the second half, settling in for the 71-61 victory.

 NEXT UP

 The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball team will travel to SUNY Canton on Friday, January 25 to face off against the Kangaroos in a North Atlantic Conference matchup. The game is slated to begin at 7:30pm following the men's 5:30pm contest.
