"The view was beautiful, and I was greeted with a friendly atmosphere, it felt like home. I am going to be able to live on a beautiful campus, earn a dual Bachelor's degree, and live out my lifelong dream of being able to play college basketball".

Welch will have a dual major in both accounting and business administration.

Welch's varsity coach Brent Covell believes that the transition to college basketball won't be much of an issue for Welch. "Lexi will transition fine into the college game once she sees the pace of the game. She is very adaptable to whatever may come her way".

Head Coach Greg Eckman has been impressed with Welch throughout the recruiting process and believes she will bring leadership and a great work ethic on and off the court for the Badgers. Also, it is a huge change from living in Maryland all my life, I'm excited to experience a different environment".

North Point High School girls' varsity coach Michael Serpone believes that the dedication and hard work that Thompson brings on a daily basis will help her transition to play at the next level. "Dev has developed her game through much hard work and dedication over her high school career. She is constantly working on and off the court to develop her skills. She is the first one in the gym and the last one to leave, and there is never a day that goes by where that is not the case. She is an avid watcher of game film and does some great analysis of her game to help her get a better understanding of things she needs to improve on".

Coach Eckman has high hopes for Thompson both on and off the court as well, "We are extremely excited to have Devyn join our women's basketball program," says Eckman. "Devyn is an incredible hard worker, is confident with the basketball and is a great student of the game." Coach Eckman believes that Thompson will be greatly impacted in a positive way as she focuses her degree in education. "Dev is going into our education program and I couldn't be more excited to add another incredible student into this program. She will have the opportunity to learn from amazing faculty and will join a growing number of education majors on the NVU-Johnson women's basketball team".
