Badgers Battle Beavers in Conference Action

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball team played their final game of the weekend against the Maine Farmington Beavers in Carter Gymnasium. The Badgers dropped the contest by a score of 67-46.

Freshman Kiana Johnson led the way for the Badgers scoring a team high 11 points. Junior Ellery Kiefer added six points, eleven rebounds and two assists and Halie Tillotson scored seven points and added five boards for the contest. 

The Badgers opened up the game strong going on a 6-2 run before the Beavers caught their composure and closed the quarter on a 14-2 run off a strong performance from Page Brown and McKenna Brodeur. Farmington edged the Badgers in the second stint of action outscoring them by a score of 17-14 with a 33-22 lead headed into the break. 

In the second half both teams had runs of their own and Christle Page sparked the Badgers offense with consecutive baskets, but the Beavers ultimately went on to win by a final score of 67-46. The Beavers shot 37.6% from the floor while holding the Badgers to just 30.0% shooting. Farmington won the rebounding battle as they out rebounded the Badgers 44-39.

With the loss the Badgers drop to 0-13 and 0-4 in North Atlantic Conference action and will travel to Farmington, Maine on Friday, January 17 to face the Beavers. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
