PRESQUE ISLE, ME.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball team traveled to the University of Maine Presque-Isle on Friday evening and captured the 62-53 win over the Owls.
Ellery Kiefer paced the Badgers in a dominant performance scoring a team high 19 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Halie Tillotson recorded 12 points and four rebounds and two assists in the victory. The Badgers controlled the pace for the contest and the Owls struggled shooting from the field in the first half. UMPI struggled shooting the ball, shooting 31% from the field and 17% from three. The shooting struggles continued for the Owls leading into halftime, but only finding themselves down four at the half with the Badgers leading 26-22.
In the third stint of action the Badgers continued to be impressive on both ends. Tillotson and Kiefer came out strong after the initial Owls run. The Badgers were able to extend their third quarter lead in the fourth off 40% shooting and causing five Owls turnovers.
The Badgers converted from the field making 40.4% of their shots while holding the owls to 31.7% shooting.
With the win the Badgers move to 3-19 overall and 3-9 in the NAC play. Women's basketball closes the conference weekend tomorrow afternoon when they face UMPI at 1:00pm.
