Women's Basketball Drops Road Game at New England College

Henniker, N.H.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's basketball program took it on the road for their third game of the season on Friday afternoon where they faced off against New England College. The Badgers came up short losing the contest by a score of 77-43.

The Badgers were led by senior Ellery Kieferwho earned a game high 16 points and 10 rebounds while newcomer Gabriella Wardwelladded 13 points and five boards on 6 of 10 shooting from the floor. 

The Pilgrims opened up the game on an initial 19-6 run and the Badgers struggled to recover in the opening period. The pace continued in the second stint of action as NEC entered the half leading 48-22 off different scoring as four players for NEC finished the game scoring double digits. Ericka Pratt and Asia Jones paced the Pilgrims with 15 points each. 

Turnovers were the decider as the Badgers defense forced 18 turnovers but gave the ball back 38 times which resulted in scoring opportunity for NEC. In the second half the Badger offense slowed down NEC's offensive attack, but it wasn't enough as the Badgers fall to 0-3 on the season and NEC improves to 1-2 overall.

Women's basketball returns to action this Saturday when they host in state rival Norwich University in Carter Gymnasium at 1:00pm.
