Strong Second Half Not Enough Against Eastern Nazarene

Strong Second Half Not Enough Against Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, MA – On Sunday afternoon, Johnson Women's Basketball traveled to face the Lions of Eastern Nazarene College. The Badgers kept pace with the Lions early, with Matt House and Faith Meade contributing four apiece during a 8-6 run in the opening minutes. The Lions would then respond with a 14-4 burst of their own that found the Badgers trailing 20-12 heading into the second quarter.

After struggling to maintain pace in the following quarter, the Badgers found consistency out of halftime, outscoring the host 36-35 over the final two quarters. This effort was led by strong performances from Gabby Wardwell (19 pts, 20 rebs), Matt House (13 pts, 5 rebs, 2 stls), Faith Meade (10 rebs, 7 pts, 2 stls), and Sasha Khomutetsky (9 pts, 5 rebs). The impressive second half was not enough to erase the deficit though, as Eastern Nazarene edged Johnson 86-52.

Notes: The 21 point third quarter was the highest scoring quarter of the Badgers season. The 36 point second half was their highest scoring half of the season.

Women's Basketball is back in action on Friday, January 26 as the Badgers travel to SUNY Cobleskill. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
