Greg Eckman has established himself as a dedicated and accomplished basketball coach, entering his 13th season as the head coach at Vermont State University Johnson. His coaching journey began as an assistant coach for the Johnson men's basketball team, working under the guidance of head coach Michael Osborne for five seasons, from 2006-07 to 2010-11. During the 2010-11 season, he took on an additional role as the assistant to head women's basketball coach Dale Tatro, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the sport.

Before joining the coaching staff at Johnson, Eckman had a successful playing career at Eisenhower High School in Macomb, Michigan. His exceptional skills on the court earned him a full scholarship to NCAA Division II Michigan Technical University in Houghton, Michigan. Throughout his collegiate career, Eckman played a pivotal role in the success of the Huskies' basketball program. As a sophomore, he contributed to the team's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Championship. Eckman also helped lead the team to two NCAA Division II National Tournament appearances, reaching the Great Lakes Region Semifinals on both occasions. His contributions to the team are evident in his impressive statistics, ranking seventh all-time at Michigan Tech in games played with 117, while also scoring 420 career points and securing 358 career rebounds.

Eckman's dedication and passion for the game were recognized during his collegiate career. He was named the team's Most Improved Player as a sophomore, highlighting his commitment to personal growth and development. Additionally, he received the Harold Meese Sportsmanship Award in his senior year, exemplifying his exemplary sportsmanship both on and off the court. Eckman graduated from Michigan Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, focusing on Industrial Marketing and Management.

Originally from Macomb, Michigan, Coach Eckman now resides in Westford, Vermont with his wife Chantal, son Mason, and daughter Borjia. His presence in the local community extends beyond coaching, as he and his family have become valued members of the Vermont community.
