Badgers Stumble Against Eagles

The Johnson State College women's lacrosse team fell to Husson University on Saturday morning North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Minaert Field.  The Husson Eagles won the game 20-5. With the win, Husson advances to 2- 4 overall and 1-1 in the NAC while Johnson slips to 0-4 on the year and 0-1 in the NAC.

Twenty seconds into the tilt, Theresa Butler found Cassidy Roderick for the first goal of the game to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage. Husson extend its lead to 2-0 with another goal from Roderick, before Johnson got on the board at the 27:13 mark. Nichole Weeks' unassisted goal, was her eighth in just two games. Husson fired back with three quick goals to run the score to 5-1, before Weeks answered again. Husson maintained possession for the majority of the half, heading into the intermission ahead 12-2.

The Eagles came back from the break hot, netting three more goals by Theresa Butler, Mattie Russell and Serian Williams to put the visitors up 16-2. Weeks recorded another goal, sending a well-placed screamer past Kaitlin Dolloff's mask. The Badgers two more goals, from Weeks and Shannon Rooney, were not enough to lift them past the Eagles as Husson scored another four goals to seal the game at 20-5.

Lauren Coughlin led the Eagles with three caused turnovers while Dolloff made four saves in the net. Kaitlin Boucher turned away seven shots and was saddled with the loss.

Husson held the advantage in shots (32-15).

Johnson State returns to action on Sunday when it hosts Southern Vermont for a 1:00pm game, while the Eagles play on Saturday, April 9th at Castleton University.
