Thomas College women's lacrosse team earned a 14-4 win over Johnson State College on Tuesday at Smith Field.
LaVallee opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 27:09 mark with Greenlaw making it 2-0 witn an unassisted tally just 33 seconds later.
Nichole Weeks put Johnson State on the board when she converted a free-position attempt with 20:22 to play in the first half. Nelligan answered just 17 seconds later off an assist from Greenlaw to make it 3-1 Thomas. Only 16 seconds ticked off the clock after Nelligan's goal before Greenlaw made it 4-1 with 19:49 to play. LaVallee was credited with the assist.
LaVallee also assisted on Nelligan's second goal two minutes later before finding the back of the net again herself at the 15:44 mark.
The score remained 6-1 for over 10 minutes before Weeks tallied her second unassisted goal of the half.
Greenlaw added a free-position goal with 2:30 remaining and Nelligan scored unassisted with just five second left in the half to give the Terriers an 8-2 lead at the half.
Thomas continued to apply pressure offensively in the second half as Greenlaw scored a pair of goals just 18 seconds apart to make it 10-2 with 26:27 to play. Nelligan and LaVallee each scored one more goal to push the lead to double-digits with 18:38 to play. LaVallee's came with the Terriers a player down.
Weeks made it 12-3 with 15:32 to play with her third unassisted tally of the game.
Junior Mary Turmel (Lewiston, Maine / Lewiston) recorded her first career goal at the 11:25 mark off an assist from LaVallee, while sophomore Hailey Mullen (South Portland, Maine / South Portland) added a goal with 5:37 left to push the lead to 14-3.
JSC's Mary Fafard added a late goal to make the final score 14-4.
The Terriers dominated the game with a 37-15 advantage in shots and and a 36-23 edge in ground balls. Thomas also won 12 of 19 draws and was successful on 13 of 21 clear attempts. By contrast, Johnson State was limited to just 10 successful clears on 24 attempts.
In addition to her seven points, Greenlaw posted team-highs with seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. Nelligan controlled six draws, scooped up six ground balls and caused three turnovers. Junior Lindsey Allen added three draw controls, while LaVallee, senior Crystal Leavitt , sophomores Mullen, Ashley Gooden and Jordyn Taylor caused two a pair of turnovers each.
Senior Brittany Fox received the win in goal after making two first-half saves. Sophomore Tori Grey played the second half, recording three saves.
Weeks led the Badgers (0-5, 0-2 NAC) with three goals. She also scooped up a team-high seven ground balls and caused five turnovers. Jillian Lopez added four ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Olivia Terrazzano had three ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Kaitlin Boucher took the loss for Johnson State, making 11 saves.
The Terriers (2-5, 2-2 NAC) step out of North Atlantic Conference play Thursday when they travel to Southern Maine for a 4 p.m. game. Thomas' next NAC game is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Colby-Sawyer College. The Badgers return to Maine on Saturday afternoon to face Maine Maritime at 3:30 p.m.
