Jeff Capen Named Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach

JOHNSON, VT. – Johnson State College Director of Athletics and Recreation Jamey Ventura announced on Thursday the hiring of Jeff Capen ('14, '16) as head women's lacrosse coach.

"We are excited to add Jeff to our athletics staff," says Ventura. "We believe he has the ability to build a strong and competitive culture for our women's lacrosse program."

Capen brings 20 years of leadership and coaching experience to Johnson, having coached soccer at multiple levels. For the last two years, he has served as a teaching assistant in the humanities department at JSC.

"I love JSC and supporting the varied interests of all the students, not just athletics," says Capen. "My personal mission is to help people move mentally and emotionally from where they are to where they want to be, or need to be and don't know it. I want to put in place the elements of a successful program that extend beyond X's and O's, which will advance the program to championship caliber."

Capen is a Johnson State alumnus, having earned a bachelor's degree in professional studies in 2014 and a master's degree in higher education administration in 2016.
