Badgers Dropped by Merchant Marine

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Johnson State College women's lacrosse team fell to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy 21-1 in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon.

The Badgers go to 0-2 on the season while Merchant Marine starts their season 1-0.

1st Half

The Mariners scored 15 unanswered in the first half, including four from Grace McHugh.

2nd Half

The Badgers got on the board first in the second half with a goal by Nicole Weeks (Barre, Vt.) five minutes in. Merchant Marine went on to score six in the half to take the 21-1 victory.

Goalkeepers

Hannah Gizzi earned the win for the Mariners, allowing one goal on two shots. Heatherann Esden (Southington, Conn.) was given the loss, making nine saves on 30 shots.

Stats Breakdown

Merchant Marine picked up 24 groundballs to Johnson's 10 and won 15 of 23 draw controls. The Cadets had 9 successful clears to Johnson's 6, while outshooting the Badgers 33-4.
