Johnson Drops First Conference Game to NEC

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Johnson State College women's lacrosse team fell to New England College 21-2 in their first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game of the season on Wednesday evening.  

The Badgers go to 0-3 (0-1 NAC) on the season while the Pilgrims improve to 2-3 (1-0 NAC).

The game was called off after 48 minutes of play due to frigid temperatures.

1st Half

NEC netted the first 13 goals of the contest before Nicole Weeks (Barre, Vt.) tallied her fifth goal of the season at the 6:42 mark of the first. The Pilgrims added one more to bring the score to 14-1 at the half.

2nd Half

The Pilgrims picked up seven more in the second before Weeks concluded the game with her second goal of the contest to bring the final score to 21-2.  

Goalkeepers

NEC's Mackenzie Meegan tallied four saves in the 48-minute game, while Johnson's Heatherann Esden (Southington, Conn.) made 12 saves in the loss.

Stats Breakdown

NEC held a 43-7 advantage in shots, a 33-6 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 24-5 edge in ground balls. Johnson tallied 14 turnovers to NEC's six. The Pilgrims completed 7-of-8 clear attempts; Johnson finished 2-for-6 on clears.
