Badgers Fall to Thomas

NORTHFIELD, VT.  – The Johnson State College women's lacrosse team fell to Thomas College 20-4 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game at Norwich University on Saturday evening.  

The Badgers go to 0-5 (0-3 NAC) on the season while the Terriers improve to 2-5 (2-2 NAC).

1st Half

The Terriers took a 5-0 lead in the first six minutes with goals from Samantha Greenlaw and Lindsey Allen. Nichole Weeks (Barre, Vt.) cut the lead to 5-1 less than a minute later with her eight of the season. Thomas responded with back-to-back goals to bring the Terriers lead to 7-1. Weeks notched two more in the half while the Terriers added six to bring the score to 13-3 at the half.

2nd Half

Thomas went on a 7-0 scoring run in the second, with Weeks ending the game with her eleventh goal of the season to bring the final score to 20-4.

Goalkeepers

Syndi Collier made two saves in goal for Thomas for the win while Heatherann Esden (Southington, Conn.) turned aside 11 shots for the Badgers.

Stats Breakdown

Thomas held a 48-8 advantage in shots and a 37-18 edge in ground balls. Thomas completed 14-of-15 clear attempts, while Johnson finished 8-for-19 on clears. The Terriers converted on two of seven free position shots, while the Badgers were 2-for-4.

Johnson will host Maine Maritime Academy in a NAC contest at Saint Michael's College on Sunday, April 9th in a 4:00 game.
