Mariners Cruise Past Badgers

COLCHESTER, VT.  – The Johnson State College women's lacrosse team fell to Maine Maritime Academy 15-1 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game at Saint Michael's College on Sunday afternoon.   

The Badgers go to 0-6 (0-4 NAC) on the season while the Mariners improve to 5-1 (3-1 NAC).

1st Half

Maine Maritime scored eight unanswered in the first, including three from Madison Berry, to take an 8-0 lead into the intermission.

2nd Half

MMA added two early in the second, with Nichole Weeks answering back with her twelfth goal of the season 3:31 into the half. The Mariners tacked on five more to bring the final score to 15-1.

Goalkeepers

Sierra James made seven saves in goal for MMA for the win while Heatherann Esden (Southington, Conn.) turned aside 12 shots for the Badgers.

Stats Breakdown

Thomas held a 34-10 advantage in shots and a 32-22 edge in ground balls. Thomas completed 15-of-16 clear attempts, while Johnson finished 8-for-19 on clears. The Terriers converted on three of four free position shots, while the Badgers were 0-1.
