Spartans Cruise Past Badgers

JOHNSON, VT.  – The Johnson State College women's lacrosse team fell to Castleton University 24-2 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Thursday afternoon.  

The Badgers go to 0-8 (0-6 NAC) on the season while the Spartans improve to 7-6 (7-0 NAC).

1st Half

The Spartans scored 16 unanswered goals in the first, including three each from Tiffany Danyow and Ashley Pelkey.

2nd Half

The Spartans netted eight more in the second, before Nichole Weeks (Barre, Vt.) buried two goals to bring the final score to 24-2.

Goalkeepers

Samantha Hebb earned the win for the Spartans, stopping all three shots she faced in the first half. Bria Willis played the second half in net, allowing two goals on three shots. Naomi Quad (Morrisville, Vt.) made seven saves in the loss.

Stats Breakdown

Castleton held a 31-6 advantage in shots on goal and a 39-19 edge in ground balls. Green Mountain completed 9 of 9 clear attempts, while Johnson finished 2 for 7 on clears. Both teams were one for one on free position shots.

Johnson will travel to UMaine-Farmington on Saturday, April 22nd for a 7:00 p.m. NAC contest, played at Thomas College.
