Badgers Drop Season Finale to Lyndon

JOHNSON, VT.  – The Johnson State College women's lacrosse team fell to Lyndon State College 21-9 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Monday afternoon.  

The Badgers go to 0-11 (0-9 NAC) on the season while the Hornets improve to 2-8 (2-7 NAC).

1st Half

The Badgers grabbed a 2-0 lead early with goals from Shannon Rooney (Cambridge, Vt.) and Olivia Terrazzano (St. Albans, Vt.). The Hornets added a goal by Mikayla Hodge at the 25:43 mark, before Nichole Weeks (Barre, Vt.) pushed the Johnson Lead back to two with a goal 33 seconds later. Lyndon answered back again 11 second later on a goal by Hodge. Lyndon scored four unanswered to take a 6-3 lead midway through the period. Rooney and Terrazzano added another goal each, while Lyndon tacked on five more goals to bring the score to 11-5 at the half.

2nd Half

The teams traded a goal each in the opening minutes of the second, with Felisha Olmstead scoring for Lyndon and Weeks scoring for Johnson. The Hornets rattled off four straight to take a 16-6 lead. Rooney added her third of the game at the 18:07 to make it 16-7. Lyndon pushed their lead back to ten just over a minute later on a goal by Elizabeth Start, but Weeks answered back 27 seconds after with a goal. Weeks added one more, while Lyndon put up four to bring the final score to 21-9

Goalkeepers

Amanda Hadley earned the win for the Hornets, stopping four of nine shots. Naomi Quad (Morrisville, Vt.) made nine saves in the loss.

Stats Breakdown

The Hornets held a 30-16 advantage in shots on goal and a 55-41 edge in ground balls. Lyndon completed 15-16 clear attempts, while Johnson finished 12-8 on clears. The Badgers were one for four on free position shots, while Lyndon was five for six.
