JOHNSON, VT. – The Johnson State College women's soccer team opened the season with an 8-1 loss to Curry College in a non-conference game on Thursday afternoon at Minaert Field.
Johnson falls to 0-1 to begin the season, while the Colonels start off 1-0.
SCORING
1ST Half: Curry spread seven goals through the first half, including a hat-trick by Cassie Grasso. Kaitlyn Lima, Jules Petrucelli, Kelly Parker, and Amanda Crisfulla also chipped in goals for the Colonels.
2nd Half: Briana Stadler (Cornwall, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the season for the Badgers in the 60th minute. On a set piece just outside the box, Maddison Prescott (Topsham, Maine) touched the ball to Stadler, who loaded up and buried the ball past the Curry goalie. Curry tacked on one last goal in the final minutes by Parker to bring the final to 8-1.
GOALKEEPERS
Morgan Scott earned the victory in net, stopping four of five shots. Kaila Lemmer (Barnard, Vt.) was tagged with the loss, allowing seven goals on 23 shots in 45 minutes of action in the first half. Naomi Quad (Morrisville, Vt.) took over for the second half, allowing one goal on ten shots.

The Badgers will travel to Northfield, Vermont this weekend to participate in the NU Women's Soccer Classic. Johnson will face Staten Island on Sunday at 2:00 PM and then take on host Norwich on Monday at 5:30 PM.
