JOHNSON, Vt.– The Johnson State College women's soccer team defeated Vermont Technical College 9-0 in their season opener on Friday afternoon at Minaert Field. Katherine Fish (Lake Elmore, Vt.) scored three goals while Kelsey Cauchon (Colchester, Vt.) added two more in the win.

SCORING 

1^st Half: Johnson started the scoring in the third minute when Fish scored off a feed from Kylie Aither (Hyde Park, Vt.) to take a 1-0 lead. Aither scored one of her own in the 11^th minute that was assisted by Shannon Rooney (Cambridge, Vt.). Cauchon picked up her first goal less than a minute later, followed by her second in the 19^th minute. Aither assisted on Jaden Gray's first collegiate goal in the 26^th minute, followed by a goal by Rooney in the 40^th minute to close out the half.

2^nd Half: Fish added her second five minutes into the second half to push the lead to 7-0. Andrea Mercer scored in the 65^th minute, followed by Fish finishing the hat-trick in the final minute to bring the final score to 9-0.

GOALKEEPERS 

Kaila Lemmer (Barnard, Vt., 1-0) earned the win while not facing a shot in 60 minutes of action. Mia Blackwell (Eastham, Mass.) finished the final 30 minutes in net for the Badgers. Paige Perkins (0-1) took the loss, allowing nine goals on 31 shots for Vermont Tech.
