WSOC: Mariners Down Badgers 6-1

CASTINE, Maine - The Johnson State College women's soccer fell to Maine Maritime Academy 6-1 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Saturday afternoon. Kylie Aither (Hyde Park, Vt.) scored her team-leading 14th goal of the season in the loss.

SCORING 

1st Half: Kelsea Anair scored in the second minute to put the Mariners up 1-0 and then dished out an assist on an Eryn Doiron goal in the 21st minute. Emily Wyman scored on an assist from Doiron in the 23rd minute to make it 3-0 in favor of Maine Maritime, and just minutes later Susana DeFrank joined the scoring to make it 4-0. Doiron picked up her second goal of the game in the 30th minute to stretch the Mariners' lead to 5-0. Aither broke the shutout in the 39th minute to send the Mariners into halftime with a four-goal lead.

2nd Half: The Mariners added a goal by Ashley Porter in the 86th minute to take the 6-1 victory.

Emily Conway (3-8) stopped two shots in the victory for Maine Maritime, while Kaila Lemmer (Barnard, Vt., 3-4) tallied 13 saves in the loss for the Badgers in nearly 75 minutes of play.

Johnson will travel to Husson on Sunday, October 1st for a NAC match at 2:30 p.m.
