Badgers Top Unity College 5-1

UNITY, ME- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's soccer team played their second game of the weekend against Unity College. The Badgers came out on top by a score of 5-1. With the win the Badgers improve to 5-4 overall.

 First Half.

 The Badgers started off strong, the first goal of the game was scored by Lindsay Sanchez-Cardona (Stamford,CT). The goal was assisted by Andrea Mercer (Naugatuck, CT) off of a corner kick.  Great goal off of a service to the back post with a full volley finish.   Kelsey Cauchon (Colchester,Vt.), scored the second goal of the game and was unassisted, recovered through multiple tackles by the Unity defense.  The last goal of the half was scored by Lindsay Sanchez-Cardona, assisted by Andrea Mercer off a corner kick.  

Second Half

The second half was no different for the Badgers. NVU scored their first goal by Christina Wheelock(Eden,Vt.),The goal was unassisted.  Pressure on the defenders by our strikers resulted in Wheelock beating both a defender and the goalkeeper to the ball and finishing from roughly the top of the 18 yard box.  Later in the second half Unity , corner kick resulted in a scramble in front of the net. A Unity player finished a low shot on the weak side.   Goal by Kelsey Cauchon later in the second half sealed the deal for the Badgers. Wheelock assisted on the goal. Wheelock ran the ball up the right wing and played an early service to the top of the 18 where Cauchon beat the goalkeeper to the spot and finished low shot to the right corner of the net for the final goal of the game
