JOHNSON, Vt.- 2018 Northern Vermont University-Johnson's women's soccer season recap.

The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's soccer team finished the 2018 season with a record of 7-10. The Badgers had 10 newcomers with a mix of returning players this season. The Badgers made the North Atlantic Conference post season tournament for the first time under Head Coach Andrew Lafrenz but ultimately lost in the Quarterfinal game against No.3 Maine Farmington on Saturday, October 27.

To start the season, the Badgers had convincing wins against non-conference opponents Vermont Tech and Paul Smith's College. They also beat conference opponent University of Maine Presque Isle in the first conference match of the season by a score of 5-0.

The Badgers had their ups and downs throughout conference play and finished the conference with a record of 2-5.

Junior Kelsey Cauchon (Colchester, Vt.) was impactful for the Badgers this season. Cauchon earned North Atlantic Conference Second Team All-Conference honors. Her ability to score and compete on the offensive end was valuable for the Badgers. Cauchon scored a team high 18 goals this season ranking her 3rd in goals overall with four of those goals coming in conference play. Cauchon also recorded an overall shot percentage of .346% which ranked her 7thoverall. 

Lindsay Sanchez-Cardona (Stamford, CT) was second on the team in goals and assists with five goals and three assists this season. Sanchez-Cardona was named North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week after Sanchez-Cardona lifted the Badgers to a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the game against NVU-Lyndon. The goal held up as the game winner in the 1-0 conference victory. Sanchez-Cordona contributed 2 goals and 2 assists against non-conference opponent Pine Manor as part of a 10-0 rout.

Christina Wheelock (Eden, Vt.) was named to the NAC Sportsmanship Team.

The team showed marked improvement throughout the season. Several newcomers had a big impact on the team in their first year with the Badgers. The 7 wins marks the most wins in the past three years for the Badgers.
