Women's Soccer Announces the Commitment of Rachel Bellavance for the 2019 Season

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's soccer program and Head Coach Andrew Lafrenz has gained another commitment for the 2019 season.

Rachel Bellavance has signed the necessary paperwork and will add depth to the Badgers roster this upcoming season. Bellevance a native of Walden, Vermont and a student-athlete at Hazen Union High School will arrive at NVU-Johnson with the intent to pursue a degree in Health Sciences. "I plan to achieve four years of college at NVU-Johnson learning and training to become a physical therapist assistant. I will be majoring in general health sciences to acquire my degree".

Bellavance chose to stay close to home and knew that NVU-Johnson was a place that she could easily transition to. "Part of the reason I chose NVU-Johnson is that it was close to home", said Bellavance. "I also liked that it was financially friendly".

Bellavance was never sure if her path in sports would lead her to playing at the next level collegiately but she found an early love for the game of soccer at Hazen Union and knew that she wanted to try her best to be part of a college program. "When I got the opportunity to join the women's soccer team at Johnson I thought about how much of an honor it would be to play for them", said Bellavance. "The women's soccer teams model is "Family. School. Soccer" and I knew from the motto that this was the right program to join.

Bellavance concluded her high school career at Hazen Union High School as a one-year co-captain of her varsity program. This past year Bellavance was also awarded with the MENSCH award. The MENSCH award is awarded to students who show integrity, respect for others and do the right thing no matter how difficult the situation.

The NVU-Johnson women's soccer program plan to announce additional commitments in the near future.
