Strong First Half Lifts Norwich University Over NVU-Johnson

NORTHFIELD, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's soccer team traveled to Northfield, Vermont on Wednesday evening to face Norwich University in a non-conference match.

SCORING

1st Half: A strong first half performance for the Cadets was the decider. The Cadets had six different players score in the first half. It was the Cadets that struck early as Isabel Doherty netted the first goal of the contest in the 2ndminute. The Badgers quickly attacked in the next possession and earned a penalty kick off a Norwich foul. Jordan Pelland scored to tie the game at one goal apiece. Two Cadet goals by Karyssa Lachance and Sydney Rocheville and a strong defensive presence allowed the Cadets to hold the lead. Mid way through the first half Katie Callahan earned a penalty kick off a Badger foul. Callahan scored her first goal of the season. Jordan Lutz and Regan Covey earned goals as well to give the Cadets the 7-1 lead headed into halftime.

 

 2nd Half: Both sides traded blows in the second half but were unsuccessful in score. The Cadets closed the contest by a score of 7-1.

 

With the loss the Badgers fall to 0-6 on the year. Norwich University improves to 2-4 overall.

 

Jules Reed and Courtney Currier both earned time in goal for NVU-Johnson. Reed recorded eight saves while Currier recorded six.
