JOHNSON, VT. – The Johnson State College women's tennis team defeated Castleton 6-3 on Thursday afternoon on the campus of Johnson State College.  

Doubles

The Spartans took two of three doubles matches, with the team of Ashley Fogg (White River Junction, Vt.) and Mikayla Messier (Sheldon, Vt.) picking up the lone win #1 doubles, 8-3.

Singles

Johnson dominated singles play, winning five of six. Katherina Van Woerkom (Miami, Fla.) took #1 singles in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. In a crucial #2 singles match, freshman Grace Page (Bennington, Vt.) dropped the first set 6-4. Page bounced back, taking the second set 7-5. In the third set, Page battled back and forth with Castleton's Megan Nadler, eventually putting her away to take the set 10-8, and the match 2-1.
