2017 Women's Tennis Schedule Released

JOHNSON, VT. – The Johnson State College Athletic Department today released the 2017 women's tennis schedule. The Badgers will play 13 matches this season, including seven North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division games and five home games.

Entering her 9th season, Head Coach Michele Whitmore and the Badgers will open the season on the road on Friday, September 1st in a non-conference match against Castleton at 4:00 p.m. Johnson will then play their home opener on Saturday, September 2nd when they host Plattsburgh State.

The Badgers will play non-conference matches at Lyndon State on September 6th and at home against Green Mountain on September 10th before opening their NEAC East Division schedule against Colby-Sawyer on September 12th at home.

Johnson travels to Maine the following weekend to take on Thomas and Husson on September 16th and 17th. The Badgers return home to face Lyndon State on September 21st before playing three straight road contests against MCLA, Western New England and Green Mountain.  

The Badgers play their home finale on September 30th at Castleton, where Johnson's seniors will be recognized. Johnson will close out the regular season at Plymouth State on October 4th in a non-conference match.

The 2017 NEAC East Divisional Championship will be held on October 7th with the semifinals taking place in the morning and the finals in the afternoon. The number one seed will play the four seed and the two seed will play the three seed in the semifinals. The winners of those matches will face off in finals to determine the NEAC East Division Champion. The NEAC East Division Champion will compete in the NAC/NEAC Crossover Championship in the spring, with the winner representing the conference in the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Johnson State finished the 2016 season with a 9-5 record overall and 5-2 mark in the conference, finishing second in the regular season standings. This earned the Badgers their second consecutive bid to the NEAC East Division Championship, where they fell to Husson 6-3 in the Semifinals.
