WTEN: Badgers Fall to Golden Bears

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College women's tennis team fell to Western New England University 9-0 in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon.

DOUBLES

Western New England (2-4, 1-3 CCC) took all three doubles matches over Johnson (3-6, 2-3 NAC). The team of Sam Kershner (Essex, Vt.) and Nicole Monick (Bennington, Vt.) dropped first singles 8-2, while Kali Covell (Hartford, Vt.) and Mikayla Messier (Sheldon, Vt.) fell in second doubles 8-2. Ashley Fogg (White River Junction, Vt.) and Sarah Lind (Winooski, Vt.) went down 8-1 in the third doubles match.

SINGLES

The Golden Bears swept singles action to take the 9-0 win. Monick dropped first singles in straight sets 7-5, 6-1. Covell went down 6-0, 6-0 in second singles, while Messier fell in thirds 6-1, 6-3.

Grace Page (Bennington, Vt.) lost fourth singles in a super tiebreaker, 6-3, 1-6, 3-10, while Fogg and Kershner dropped fifth and sixth singles.
