WTEN: Johnson Downs Lyndon 6-3

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Johnson State College women's tennis team defeated Lyndon State College 6-3 in a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon.

Doubles

Johnson (5-6, 3-3 NAC) took two of three doubles contests over the Hornets (0-9, 0-5 NAC). The team of Kali Covell (Hartford, Vt.) and Nicole Monick (Bennington, Vt.) fell in first doubles 8-6. Ashley Fogg (White River Junction, Vt.) and Grace Page (Bennington, Vt.) took second doubles 8-0, while Iris Serrano (Stowe, Vt.) and Sarah Lind (Winooski, Vt.) rounded out doubles with an 8-3 win.

Singles

The Badgers took four of six singles bouts to take the 6-3 victory. Monick dropped first singles in an 8-3 pro set, while Covell picked up and 8-1 win in second singles. Page took third flight 6-0, 6-1.

Fogg picked up a straight 6-1 set victory in fourth singles, while Lind dropped fifth singles via retirement 6-4. Serrano finished the match with a 6-1, 6-1 sixth singles victory.

The Badgers will host Castleton in their final home match on Saturday, September 30th at 1:00 p.m. Prior to the match, Johnson will honor their seniors playing in their final home match.
