Women's Tennis Earn First President's Cup Point

Lyndonville, VT- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's tennis team played their first North Atlantic Conference play of the year against Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. The Badgers came out on top for the afternoon with a 9-0 result. With the win they improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in NAC play. The Badgers will not face NVU-Lyndon again in the regular season and have secured a point towards the Northern Vermont University President's Cup.

 DOUBLES

 Badgers' started strong as the duo of Grace Page (Bennington, Vt.) and Mikayla Messier (Sheldon, Vt.) picked up an 8-2 win over Lyndon's Savannah Jackson and Faibe Achinda.

 In the second doubles Sam Kershner (Essex, Vt.) and Rebecca Simon (New Prague,MN) topped Erica Hayakawa and Roze Yar of Lyndon 8-1.

 The Badgers kept up the solid performance as Libby Chatambar (Newport, Vt.) and Iris Serrano (Stowe, Vt.) won the third doubles by a score of 8-0. 

 SINGLES

 Kershner kept the effort up for the Badgers as she won her singles play by a 6-3, 6-1 decision.

 Page knocked off NVU-Lyndon's Jackson with a 6-2, 6-1 decision.

 Leah Gaboury (Saint Albans, Vt.) topped NVU-Lyndon's Oo Mai Be with scores of 6-1, 6-1

 UP NEXT

 The Badgers travel to Maine this weekend for a pair of North Atlantic Conference match-ups as they face Husson University on Saturday, September 15 and Thomas College on Sunday, September 16.
