Badgers Tame Terriors

Waterville, ME.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's tennis team swept Thomas 9-0 on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Elizabeth Chitambar (Newport, Vt.) remains unbeaten in singles matches on the season. 

SINGLES

Mikayla Messier (Sheldon, Vt.) started off strong for the Badgers as she defeated Cassidy Hamm 6-0, 6-0.

Chitambar continued the impressive performance for the Badgers as she defeated Samantha Mercier of Thomas by scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Chitambar is 5-0 in singles matches on the season. Sam Kershner (Essex, Vt.) defeated Breanna Whitmarsh by scores of 6-1, 6-1. Rebecca Simon      (New Praque, MN) defeated Makayla Guerette by scores of 6-0, 6-1. Leah Gaboury (Saint Albans, Vt.) defeated Amber Paine of Thomas by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Rounding out for the Badgers was sophomore Kristen Tirrito (Waterville, Vt.) as she won her singles match by scores of 6-2,6-1. Overall the Badgers won all six of their singles matches. 

DOUBLES

The duo of Messier and Kershner started off well for the Badgers. They faced Cassidy Hamm and Samantha Hamm in the first doubles match of the afternoon and were victorious by a score of 8-0. Simon and Chitambar continued to be impressive by also winning their doubles match by a score of 8-0. Serrano and Gaboury finished the afternoon with an 8-2 win. 

The Badgers improve to 3-2 overall.
