Badgers Lose to Husson 9-0

JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's tennis team fell to Husson University who is the top team in the North Atlantic Conference by a score of 9-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the loss the Badgers fall to 2-2 in NAC play.

 SINGLES

In singles play the Eagles were consistent winning all six matches. Grace Page (Bennington,Vt.) lost her number one singles match to the Eagles Meredith Blessard. Page took her singles match to a third set tiebreak. Mikayla Messier (Sheldon, Vt.) played in her final tennis match at NVU-Johnson and faced off against Ashley Matlock of Husson. Matlock beat Messier by scores of 6-0.6-0. Elizabeth Chitambar (Newport, Vt.) also lost her singles match but continued to be impressive as she took her singles match against Natalie Tilton to a third set tiebreak. Sam Kershner (Essex, Vt.), Rebecca Simon (New Praque, MN) and Leah Gaboury (Saint Albans,Vt.) lost their singles matches as well.

 DOUBLES

Page and Messier were the number one doubles team for the Badgers this afternoon. They faced off against Husson's Blessard and Matlock. Page and Messier fell short losing their doubles match by a score of 8-2. Kershner and Chitambar lost the second doubles match of the day by a score of 8-2. Rounding out doubles play for the Badgers was Gaboury and Simon. They both fought hard to secure a win for the Badgers but fell short late and lost their match by a score of 8-5.

The Badgers will travel to St.Michael's College on Tuesday, October 2nd for their last match of the season before the start of conference tournament play.
