Badgers Fall Short to NCAA DII Saint Michaels College

COLCHESTER,Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's tennis team faced off against Saint Michaels College in their last regular season match of the season. The Badgers fell by a score of 9-0. They finish the regular season with an overall record of 4-7 and they take the third seed going into the North Atlantic Conference tournament this upcoming weekend at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

 SINGLES

 Junior Grace Page (Bennington, Vt.) competed in number one singles for the Badgers. Page fell to the Purple Knights Melissa Wood by a scores of 6-2, 6-0. In number two singles was Mikayla Messier(Sheldon,Vt.) who officially has competed in her last regular season match of her career, Messier competed at a high level but ended up losing the match to Abby Edelmann by scores of 6-1, 6-3. The Purple Knights controlled the rest of singles for the day. Elizabeth Chitambar (Newport,Vt.) lost number three singles by a score of 6-1,6-1. Sam Kershner (Essex,Vt.), Rebecca Simon (New Praque, MN) and Leah Gaboury (Saint Albans, Vt.) all fell short in their singles matches as well.

 DOUBLES

 Page and Messier competed in the number one doubles against Saint Michael's Melissa Wood and Abbey Edelmann. The Badgers fell short by a score of 8-0. Kershner and Chitambar gave the Purple Knights a better effort in number two doubles but still fell short by a score of 8-3. Simon and Gaboury rounded out doubles play for the Badgers and lost by a score of 8-0.
