Badgers Battle MCLA on Senior Day

SAINT ALBANS, VT — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's tennis team were defeated by the trailblazers of MCLA 7-2 on Senior Day hosted at Collins Perley Sports and Fitness Center on Saturday afternoon. 

DOUBLES

Senior Grace Page and junior Iris Serrano battled in No. 1 doubles but lost by a score of 8-7, 8-3. Samantha Kershner and Kayla Hammond were edged in No. 2 doubles by MCLA's Jessica Dupont and Alyssa Keegan. The Trailblazers earned the win over Johnson's Kristen Tirrito and Sarah Sylvain by a score of 8-6. 

SINGLES

Page set the pace for the Badgers, taking the win in No. 1 singles over Dupont by a score of 6-0, 6-2. MCLA bounced back in No. 2 singles as Higgins outlasted Kershner 6-3, 0-6, 6-4. MCLA secured wins in No. 3 and No. 4 singles over Hammond and Serrano. Tirrito fell to Keegan in No. 5 singles before earning a win for the Badgers in No. 6 singles over Ashlee Bartels by a score of 6-0, 6-0.

With the loss the Badgers fall to 1-9 on the season and 1-4 in North Atlantic Conference play.
