Women's Track and Field Team Sets New Program Records

FITCHBURG, Ma. — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's track and field team set program records in two events while competing in the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational hosted by Fitchburg State University on Saturday. The Badgers set program records in the women's high jump and 4x800 meter relay.

Junior Brooke Scheier (Milford, N.J.) set a school record in the women's high jump event, jumping 1.35 meters to take 12th in the event. Scheier also finished in 16th for the Badgers in the triple jump. 

The NVU-Johnson 4x800 meter relay team set a program record with their time of 13:02.75, placing seventh in the event. In additional running events, the Badgers 4x100 meter relay team finished with a time of 1:00.58 to place 7th in the event. Sophomore Jaden Gray finished 20th overall in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:49:17. 

In throwing events, senior Mariah Ramos (Lebanon, N.H.) threw 23.60 meters in the javelin event to finish 17th. Freshman Melissaann Clark (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished 18th behind a 23.30 meter javelin throw. Ellery Kiefer (Wayland, Ma.) came in 17th for the Badgers in the shot put, throwing 9.23 meters in the event.

The Badgers will compete in the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen Relays in Manchester, New Hampshire on Saturday, April 13th.
