Women's Track and Field Announces the Commitment of Alyssa Cloney

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's track and field team and Head Coach Shawn Woods tabbed another commitment for the 2020 season.

Alyssa Cloney a native of Barton, Vermont and a product of the Lake Region Union High School girls track and field team has signed the necessary paperwork and will attend NVU-Johnson this upcoming fall.

Cloney is excited for her next step both academically and athletically and knew from the beginning that Northern Vermont University-Johnson was the right fit for her. "I chose NVU for many reasons", stated Cloney. "It was close to home, it is a great environment and I could feel that the first time I went there to visit". Cloney plans to pursue a degree in Pre-Medicine when arrived at NVU-Johnson and believes that her commitment and passion towards the field will help her in life after Northern Vermont University.

Cloney's interscholastic athletic career has been a short stint but hopes to excel at the collegiate level. "I was never part of a sports team until my senior year of high school", said Cloney. "The feeling of being part of a team is so amazing and I am so excited and can't wait to be part of the Badger athletic family".

Cloney is set to join ten returning athletes from the 2019 women's track and field team. "I'm super excited to compete for Coach Woods, I love track and I can't wait to strengthen my skills".

The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's track and field program will announce additional commitments for the 2020 season in the near future.
