TRIATHLON: Connelly, Cross Named Women's Collegiate Triathlon Scholar All-American's

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO- The College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) released its list of Scholar All-Americans, recognizing women's varsity student-athletes and teams that excelled both in the classroom and on the race course during the 2018 season.

Margaret Connelly and Molly Cross were named as 2018 Women's Collegiate Triathlon Scholar All-American's for the 2018 Triathlon season. Scholar All-American honors are awarded to varsity athletes who competed in at least one 2018 Women's Collegiate Triathlon Regional Qualifier (all divisions), but not the National Championships, and maintained a GPA of 3.5 or better throughout the 2018 fall semester of competition.

The NCAA named triathlon an Emerging Sport for Women in 2014, a designation that gives the sport a 10-year window to demonstrate sustainability at the NCAA level. Twenty-five colleges and universities across the country currently sponsor the sport at the varsity level.

Northern Vermont University-Johnson concluded their 2018 inagural season at the NCAA National Championship in Tempe, Arizona. The team finished fifth overall. Connelly had a strong showing in the event back on November 4, 2018 as she cracked the top ten and finished eighth overall.
