Badgers fall to Lyndon in Thrilling NAC Opener

JOHNSON, VT. – The Johnson State College women's volleyball team opened North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with 3-1 loss to Lyndon State College on Tuesday night in Carter Gymnasium.

Johnson falls to 1-9 on the season and 0-1 in the NAC. Lyndon starts their conference season 1-0 and improves to 5-3 overall. 

FIRST SET 

Strong offense pushed Johnson out to a 15-5 early lead before Lyndon answered with six straight points. The teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the set, with Johnson coming out victorious 25-18.

SECOND SET

In the second set, Lyndon jumped out to a quick 11-5 lead. The teams remained neck and neck throughout the remainder of the set, until Lyndon pull away with a 25-17 win.

THIRD SET

The Badgers and Hornets went back and forth through most of the third set, until Lyndon was able to escape with a 25-20 victory.

FOURTH SET

Lyndon jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, but Johnson was able to claw their way back to within 3. Johnson's comeback effort would fall short however, as they dropped the final set, 25-16.

STATS LEADERS

Breanna Laughlin (San Jacinto, Calif.) paced the Badgers with a match-high 20 kills, seven aces, and seven digs. Kimberly Reville (Burke, N.Y.) added nine kills, two aces, and seven digs. Laurel Hubbert-Severance led the Johnson offense with 27 assists.

The Badgers will travel to Longmeadow, Massachusetts for a tri-match on Saturday, September the 24th against Bay Path and Castleton.
