Johnson Spilts Tri-Match in Season Finale

POULTNEY, VT. – The Johnson State College volleyball team split a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tri-match on Saturday, falling to Castleton 3-0 and defeating Green Mountain 3-0.

The Badgers finish their season with an overall record of 3-20 and 1-6 in the conference.

MATCH 1 vs. CASTLETON

A late run by Castleton gave the Spartans a 25-21 first set win. The second set was close as well, with Castleton pulling away late once again to win 25-20. Johnson was unable to force a fourth frame, losing another close set 25-20.

STATS LEADERS

The Badgers were led by a match-high 12 kills from Breanna Laughlin (San Jacinto, Calif.) who also collected a team-high 13 digs. Kimberly Reville (Burke, N.Y ) supported the offense with seven kills and notched 12 digs defensively and three service aces. Anna Bingham (Island Pond, Vt.) steered the offense with 19 assists and also contributed with eight digs.

MATCH 2 vs. GREEN MOUNTAIN

Johnson went down early in the first set, but came from behind to take the 25-18 win. The Badgers had to come from behind once more in the second, but were able to edge Green Mountain 25-22. The Eagles jumped out to another early lead in the third, but were unable to hold the Badgers off, leading to a 25-17 Johnson win.

STATS LEADERS

Laughlin led the Badgers again with a match-high 12 kills to go along with 17 digs. Reville added five kills and six digs for the Badgers, while Bingham once again paced the Badgers with 17 assists.
