JOHNSON, VT. – The Johnson State College Athletic Department today released the 2017 women's volleyball schedule. The Badgers play 20 contests this season, including seven North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games and five home games.
2nd year Head Coach Joan Porambo and the Badgers will open the season at home on Friday, September 1st at 7:00 p.m. in a non-conference match against Lyndon State. Johnson will then travel to Chicopee, Massachusetts for a tri-match against Bay Path and Massachusetts Maritime.
The Badgers will visit Northampton, Massachusetts the following weekend, with a matches against Smith College on September 8th and Dean and Gallaudet on the 9th. Johnson then returns home for a non-conference match against Norwich, before traveling to Castleton for a tri-match with Paul Smith's College and Old Westbury.
Johnson begins their NAC schedule on September 26th when they travel to Lyndon State. On September 30th, the Badgers host a conference tri-match against Husson and Maine Maritime Academy.
The Badgers will be on the road the next two weekends, with a non-conference quad-match against UMaine-Presque Isle, SUNY Delhi and Green Mountain, followed by a conference tri-match against Colby-Sawyer and NEC at Colby-Sawyer.
Johnson will play their final home match on October 18th against Southern Vermont, followed by their season finale on October 21st in a conference tri-match against Castleton and Green Mountain at Lyndon State.
The 2017 NAC Tournament will begin on October 28th with the third and fourth seeded teams hosting the sixth and fifth seeded teams respectively. The first and second seeds will receive a first-round bye. The semifinals and finals will be played in a final four format at the number one seed. Semifinal games will be held on November 3rd, with the championship game being played on November 4th.
Johnson State finished the 2016 season with a 3-20 record overall and 1-6 mark in the conference. The Badgers failed to qualify for playoffs, finishing 7th in the final standings.
