VB: Johnson Drops Tri-match to Paul Smith's and Old Westbury

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Johnson State College volleyball team fell to Paul Smith's and Old Westbury in a tri-match at Castleton University on Sunday.

MATCH 1 vs. Paul Smith's

The Bobcats jumped out to a quick lead and held on for a 25-19 first set win. Paul Smith's jumped out quickly once again in the second set and cruised to a 25-11 set win. Johnson took the early advantage in the third set and stayed close throughout, but the Bobcats pushed through to take the 25-19 win.

STATS LEADERS

Kimberly Reville (Burke, N.Y.) led the Badgers with six kills and added three assists and four digs. Kaitlin Boucher (Barre, Vt.) added two more kills and five assists.

MATCH 2 vs. Old Westbury

Old Westbury took the first set 25-7, getting an early lead and keeping the Badgers out of it. Johnson hung in early in the second set, but the Panthers pulled away for the 25-10 win. The Panthers got up early in the third set before the Badgers pulled back within eight midway through. Old Westbury put them away with nine straight points to earn the 25-8 victory.

STATS LEADERS

Reville had two kills four assists and a match-high 10 digs for the Badgers, while Boucher added a kill, assist and two digs.
