VB: Badgers Fall in Quad Match at Green Mountain

POULTNEY, Vt. – The Johnson State College volleyball team fell to UMAINE-Presque Isle, SUNY Delhi and Green Mountain in non-conference play on Saturday. The Badgers drop to 0-15 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.

MATCH 1 vs. UMPI

The teams traded points early in the first set, with UMPI (8-13) holding a 6-5 lead before going on a 19-3 run to close out the set with a 25-8 win. The Owls cruised in the second set, taking a 25-4 win. UMPI started the third set with a 10-0 run and went on to take the 25-7 victory.

STATS LEADERS

Kimberly Reville (Burke, N.Y.) led the Badgers with two kills and three digs. Elyssa Kornbrath (Manchester, Conn.) added three digs for Johnson.

MATCH 2 vs. SUNY Delhi

SUNY Delhi (4-11) started the match off strong with a 25-3 first set victory. The Broncos kept momentum in the second, as they went on to a 25-6 set win. SUNY Delhi finished the Badgers off in the third with a 25-8 victory.

STATS LEADERS

Jenna Murawski (East Burke, Vt.) had two kills to pace the Badgers, while Reville added seven digs and a kill.

MATCH 3 vs. Green Mountain

Green Mountain (3-8) jumped out to an early lead and held the Badgers off for the 25-8 win. Johnson got in stronger offence in the second set but fell 25-11. The Badgers hung around in the third set, getting as close as 18-12 late in the set, but the Eagles rallied off seven straight points to take the 25-12 win.

STATS LEADERS

Murawski led Johnson with three kills and two digs, while Reville added seven digs and two kills.
